Quilter in the Spotlight for March - James! He learned to quilt from Vanessa's mom. After quilting one of his large quilts on his domestic machine he decided to get a long arm to make the process easier

James also did a 90 x 90 pixel quilt as one of his first quilts. He is planning on learning more freezer paper techniques, and has recently learned how to do 40 flying geese at a time!

Shelley gave us an informative class on the history of sashiko stitching. Originally it was used for utilitarian purposes to strengthen clothing that was worn out .Today it has been elevated to an art form.

She showed us the two main types of Sashiko

While embroidery style stitching sits on top of the fabric, Sashiko stitching blends into and becomes a part of the fabric.

Show and Tell began while members stitched their samplers. This signature quilt bag is made of Ruby Star fabric as a special gift for her husband to use on their Quilt Con trip. It is very personalized to her husbands likes and has a "CEO" applique - standing for the one who "Carry's everything out"
