November 2013 Meeting

This meeting our quilters that made Challenge Quilts shared them with us. It's amazing how many different projects are inspired by a single fat quarter of fabric. Congratulations ladies the quilts are wonderful!

Then we moved on to this year's block of the month. Pat was our faithful leader in this endeavor. Thank you so much Pat! Your instructions were wonderful and the quilts are turning out so cute.

We had a visitor to our group telling us of a need at the animal shelter. She showed us an example of a nursing blanket for very young kittens and provided kits for anyone who was able to help make one. It was an interesting presentation and many of our member took as least one kit to help. More kits can be obtained through Diane E.
Then we had a wonderful program presented by Cathy. She walked us though how to design quilts using different sized blocks. First she showed us an example, then the steps she uses to make her amazing quilts, and last but not least, some wonderful examples of her method. Thanks so much Cathy!

Finally we had some wonderful show and tell projects shared. Many lovely quilts, a sewing project, and some breath-taking embroidery!

October's Meeting

First, let's start with our group quilt which will be in the Holiday Show in November. Barbara made a wonderful label for it. Here is the completed quilt and the lovely label. Thanks so much to everyone for their efforts!
Next, we have been working on a project for the Murray Police Department. We have made more than 70 comfort quilts. Here are some of the newest ones.

Dianne and Sandy delivered them a few days after the meeting.

Now, on to block of the month. Here's the progress to date.
Our program was presented by Donna and was about Disappearing Nine Patch with a twist. Donna shared many of here own quilts and asked anyone who had made one to bring their quilt too. The variety is awesome!

Last but not least, show and tell.
