March 2017

Block of the month - Shelley's 16 inch block and Cathie's 2 inch block.

Dianne, Jill, Barbara, Ruthie and Ruth's progress on the block of the month.

Marcia's sister Nancy showed us how to paper piece with freezer paper. With this method you don't sew on the paper so you don't have to pick it off.. This Mariners Compass quilt was done with this method.

Paper pieced dragonflies.

Kalaidescope quilt by Nancy. She learned how to paper piece this way from a class she took at HMQS. She started this quilt at the first Sandy Stitcher's retreat and it is now  finished!

Nancy's program was very informative.

Our quilt for the Intermountain Research and Medical Foundation auction is done! Thanks to Tina for donating the top, to Dianne for heading up the quilting and to all who helped quilt it!

Barbara's Round Robin quilt.

Virginia enjoyed working on this heart quilt.

Pam took a cruise to the Caribbean with Virginia, and learned Celtic quilting from Kathy Delaney.

She also learned painting on fabric from Linda Poole.

She also did some batik and made sewing machine covers with her class samples.

Pam and Virginia said the cruise was a great adventure!!

Shelley was inspired by last month's program when we brought our favorite quilt books and a quilt we had made from them.  She has a Hobo quilt book and made this quilt in honor of her great grandfather who worked for the railroad in Salt Lake.

Cathie's progress on the Splendid Sampler Blocks. FYI, the Splendid Sampler Quilt book is scheduled to come out in April!

Almost completed tree blocks for a Sasquatch quilt Cathie is making for her brother.
