April 2012 Meeting

Our meeting was fun and interesting, as always! First some more of our generous ladies shared some pillowcases they are donating to some worthy causes.

There are also a couple of quilts being donated to help others. Thank you ladies so much!

Now on to block of the month. We had many great blocks shared this month.

Some of our ladies showed us some of their works in progress.

There were also some wonderful finished projects shown.

Our demo this month was on a block called Honeyberries from the book "40 Fabulous Quick-cut Quilts" by Evelyn Sloppy.
First cut an equal number of blue (or whatever color you want) and neutral strips. Cut the strips 2 1/2" x 8 1/2". Sew the strips into sets as shown below.
Layer two of the blocks together and draw a line from diagonally from corner to corner. Sew a scant 1/4" seam on either side of the line.
Cut between the two seams to form two blocks, one with the blue on the outside and one with neutrals on the outside.
Next cut 1/4" above the center intersection of the blocks, as shown below.
Mix up a bunch of the half blocks and sew together.
Square up to 7 1/2". Now sew four of these blocks together to form the large block.
