July 2024

July's meeting was busy. This is Cathie's donation to the Sandy Stitchers basket that will be auctioned off at Quiltfest. Dianne asked members to donate table runners for the basket that reflected holidays.

Quilt that will go into our donation basket. Barbara donated the panels, Dianne and Sherri put it together and James quilted it. (hope I got that straight)

This is the picnic quilt that participants made at the last Sit and Sew day.

July's block of the month (BOM) the technique is English Paper Piecing

Vanessa shares an example of a quilt she did with the EPP technique.

Vanessa's demo included an explanation of the technique, with kits for members to try their hand at it. Thanks to Peggy for making the kits. Thanks to James for the putting together the patterns.

kits included magnets which help hold the pieces secure while sewing

Vanessa demonstrated the glue baste method. It was quick and easy.

Everyone got busy

Beth's show and tell

Marsha used Civil War fabric for this quilt that shows blocks used to help slaves escape to freedom.

Barbara's example of a quilt with curved piecing.

Fitly named

Dianne's example of curved piecing, a raw edged Drunkards path.
Each month members bring examples of work they have done using the technique learned in the previous month.

Charity quilt by Dianne

Virginia's "It's a miracle"quilt featuring curved piecing. I believe she hand pieced this. It is a Jinny Beyer pattern. The miracle is that she started it in March 2006 and finished it in September 2006. It is one of the fastest quilts she ever made!

Vanessa made this mini quilt for an instagram swap group.

Ruth's (Vanessa's mom) quilt from the scrap group exchange quilted by James.

Lisa's mom's "cheater" quilt. It is hand quilted and a good way to practice hand quilting.
