October 2019

First off in our October meeting Challenge Quilts were shown.The theme had to have something to do with birds This one is Donna's

Jill's challenge... when she washed it one of the reds bled, even though she had pre washed them...luckily a color catcher got the errant red out!

Virginia's quilt was the 2nd place winner.

Bernadette's quilt was the 1st place winner of the 2019 Sandy Stitchers quilt challenge!

Bernadette used a piece of fabric that she never wanted to cut up on the back of her quilt. Win-win!

She combined house blocks with a block she had seen in another book to make her own design.

Members then shared quilts that they had entered in shows and discussed judges comments. Leanna shared several quilts that had been judged in shows from 2016 on.. 

She shared the judges comments and said she mainly enters for the fun of it and does not take the judges comments personally.

Barbara's second place winning quilt at Quiltfest. When she saw this pattern in a quilt magazine she just knew she had to make it. It just thrilled her!

Now she has a ribbon to match the quilt!

Pam took a wool class and made this pincushion.

Tracy shared information about how quilts are judged to educate the members.

Cathie's Halloween quilt entered in the quiltfest theme category

Cathie's bigfoot quilt is finally done and ready to be gifted to her brother!
