February 2026

Virginia started off February's meeting by telling us about World Wide Quilting Day and a charity project to make quillows  for kids in a local wheelchair basketball team.

Dianne's orphan quilt from last years World Wide Quilting Day!

Block lotto pattern for March. Janell demonstrated the half square triangle technique that creates 8 half square triangles at a time.

James shared a "nightmare 1/4 inch seam story. On his very first quilt the 1/4 seams were not accurate. Blocks ranged in size from 11 inches to 13 1/4 inches! Good pal Vanessa ripped it apart for him and he re did it to come up with this result. He also promptly went out and bought a better sewing machine.

Diane shared her favorite pressing bar tool. When using this tool it is very easy to flatten the seams open for better accuracy.

Janell shared different gadgets quilters can use to ensure an accurate 1/4 inch seam

Tara was the lucky winner of the x and o blocks!

Terrie got some good feedback on how to quilt her panel quilt from Vanessa and James. Quilting with black on the stained glass leading works well. They referred her to Helen Godden who has good ideas on this type of quilting
