Natalies broderie perse design

Beth's design

Donna's pieces ready to be cut out

In July members tried their hand at a modern version of broderie persse

Cathie gave a brief history. Our trip around the world took us to France in July. Chintz fabrics were imported to Europe from India and women would cut out the floral and bird and animal designs and applique them onto a plain fabric. Beautiful designs were created this way. The technique later made it's way to America

Barbara was  one of our quilters in the Spotlight. This was an embroidered quilt that she quilted on her domestic sewing machine.  She said she learned the most from this quilt.

This red quilt is her favorite quilted by her friend Brenda

Wall hanging made for one of our challenges

This was Barbara's first quilt. She used a cornflake box to make the templates. She made it when she   was 8 years old. A current project she would like to do is make a quilt for her grand daughter using fabric that has the grand daughters art work printed on it.

We also had Marsha in the spotlight this month.
This was a color box quilt she made - she struggled with it but persisted in getting it done. Turns out there was an error in the pattern!

She designed this quilt to honor Utah when she first moved here from California

Marsha has been quilting for 33 years. She's been sewing since she was 12 years old. This is the first quilt she made, then quilted it many years later.

Leanna is in charge of the basket for quilt fest. She still needs donations to add to the basket. This is Leanna's cute doll but there will be one just like it in the basket

Debra showed the atlas folder that Vanessa will be teaching at Quiltfest

the fabric bowl will also be taught by Vanessa

These cute bags will be a project quilters can do at the Sit and Sew Saturday the 19th
